Each year the Spring Motorcycle Show presents a special collection representing 100 years of iconic motorcycles. Formerly called the "Bikes of the Century" exhibit, this year the display has been renamed “Classics on the Red Carpet”.
Come check out this spectacular exhibit in Hall 2. You'll be amazed by the range of two (and three!) wheeled variety and prestige. Watch for regular updates to this page for sneak peeks on what you'll see at the show.

Bar Hodgson decided
to bring his latest creation
‘BLACK JACK’ to the
Spring Show as a “Work
in Progress” to let Spring
Show fans see what’s
involved during the
building stage. The bike
is displayed just as it was on his work bench on stands with his tools and components at hand.
Bar initially conceived ‘BLACK JACK’ as a tough little street fighter. Big engine with minimalistic cycle parts. Starting with just a set of chopped 1947 HRD crankcases the engine was mocked up with components so that frame builder, Denis Curtis, of CMR Racing Products, could start work on the custom built frame. By now specific design concepts had evolved to include a new-old-stock Marzocchi 38mm front suspension with Progressive gold valve dampners while the rear suspension changed from twin shock to Race Tech coil-over-mono-shock cantilever suspension. With the frame constructed Denis finished off the lower engine plates and the one-off aluminum fuel tank and seat oil tank combo. After the adaptive welding was complete on the crankcase drive side all of the engine components were delivered to Vincent engine specialist, Mike White, who performed the assembly of the Terry Prince stroker flywheel set, big bore kit and twin plug bathtub heads, punching this engine out to 1300cc’s to which Bar mounted 39mm Mikuni Pro Series flat slides and 2-inch open straight pipes and mini coils to the 2 plug heads.
Meanwhile Bar spoked and balanced the wheels using TZ250 twin leading shoe brakes and Excel rims with Avon race tires, then continued with the switchgear and Tommaselli throttle, clutch, and brake levers on the aluminum handlebars and mounted the Ducati pancake headlight and MV Agusta tail light. The Norton Commando gearbox and inner chain case were mounted up to the engine and plates, and the belt drive kit installed along with the drive side alternator.
Bar expects BLACK JACK to be completed this summer and on display at Spring Motorcycle Show in 2019.

Eric Thorne and his motorcycles will be a true honour to enjoy at this year's Show. Here are a few words from Eric...
"I have been riding motorcycles for over 50 years and started doing my own
maintenance and repairs at an early age. In the beginning, I was into building
choppers and custom bikes. In the late 70’s I moved toward restoration, which
is where I am now. I do 90% of my own work, including any machining or welding. Restoration is by far more appealing to me. Over the years, the research involved
and the endless search for parts for each project has given me the opportunity
to meet a great many interesting and talented people. I’m always looking forward
to the next project and making new friends I haven’t met yet.”
